Description of Position: Serves as a Joint Exercise Modeling and Simulation Lead, providing modeling and simulation subject matter expertise, and/or workgroup lead for USSPACECOM modeling and simulation and exercise support to Tier 1-3 exercises.
Position Duties/Responsibilities: Joint Exercise Modeling and Simulation Lead will be responsible for the following areas:
- Plans and executes modeling and simulation (M&S) events in support of the USSPACECOM joint exercises following policies, procedures, instructions, and guidelines to meet mission objectives and learning outcomes.
- Advise USSPACECOM and Joint Staff leadership and officials on matters directly relating to M&S activities, policies, tradecraft, and processes, serving as an active contributor to councils, communities of interests, and other forums to ensure complete integration
- Responsible for leading annual USSPACECOM and Joint Force requirements process for development and implementation of new M&S technologies
- Provide expertise in M&S planning to USSPACECOM’s role in Apollo Griffin, Pacific Sentry, Vigilant Shield, Globally Integrated Exercise, Large Scale Global Exercise, other Combatant Command exercises, and National Exercise Program events and/or other exercises.
- Establishes, maintains, and executes the M&S JELC planning schedules for the Command’s Tier 1 and Tier 2, JEP-designated exercises, and all linked and associated exercises.
- Acts as conduit for USSPACECOM to Allies and Partners M&S centers
- Attend and lead meetings, workshops, and conferences to gather M&S requirement information in support of USSPACECOM Tier 1 and Joint Force exercises. Make M&S system recommendations necessary to replicate and visualize specific operational system capabilities to support exercise requirements.
Key Skills & Abilities:
- The ideal candidate should possess extensive experience in various modeling and simulation tools utilized across the Department of Defense (DoD)
- 3+ years of experience in modeling and simulation technologies
- Extensive knowledge of Space integration into multi-domain operations and the joint exercise environment.
- Extensive knowledge of Joint Staff’s Joint Live Virtual Construct (JLVC)
- Knowledge of JLVC, SDCCS, Bohdi, SPySE C2BMC, JMDTS, PDS-M
- Knowledge of joint and USSPACECOM exercise and training principles and concepts, directives, practices, analytical methods and techniques.
- Skilled in complex project management and the application of critical thinking skills necessary to address competing organizational requirements and parallel exercise planning efforts.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to skillfully negotiate complex issues at the highest levels of DoD, and maintain productive working relationships with Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, and inter-agency subject matter experts to represent and serve as spokesperson for USSPACECOM with senior level officials, General Officer/Flag Officers, Senior Executives, and contract personnel.
Qualification Requirements:
- At least one year of experience at the next lower broadband/grade level (or equivalent) performing modeling and simulation duties.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance
- Position requires drug testing
- Occasional travel away from the regular duty location may be required.
